Dkw is an old German auto and engine cycle marque. The name determines from Dampf-Kraft-Wagen (English: steam-driven auto).
In 1916, the Danish specialist Jørgen Skafte Rasmussen established a production line in Zschopau, Saxony, Germany, to prepare steam fittings. In that year, he endeavored to prepare a steam-driven auto, called the Dkw. Despite the fact that unsuccessful, he made a two-stroke toy motor in 1919, called Des Knaben Wunsch—”the kid’s yearning”. He additionally put a marginally changed form of this motor into a cruiser and called it Das Kleine Wunder—”the wonder”. This was the true start of the Dkw mark: by the 1930s, Dkw was the planet’s biggest cruiser maker.
In 1932, Dkw blended with Audi, Horch and Wanderer, to structure the Auto Union. Automobile Union went under Daimler-Benz possession in 1957, and was then obtained by the Volkswagen Group in 1964. The last German assembled Dkw auto was the F102 which stopped preparation in 1966.
