In 1972 ARO adequately started a ground-up overhaul as their new group of models, the 24 Series which finally incorporated numerous models and designs. The ARO 24 Series got a “younger sibling” in 1980, the 10 Series, additionally processed in numerous form trims with diverse motors and in both 4×2 and 4×4 variants.
Handling of ARO vehicles have restarted under the aegis of a Czech organization called Auto Max Czech (AMC).
In 1998 an American specialist, John Perez, offered establishment assentions to US automobile merchants. Exactly 200 merchants paid $75,000 each for establishment rights, for what added up to $15 million. These rights were offered by an organization called East European Imports. The ARO was offered as a Warsaw Pact surplus military vehicle. After the establishments were sold, merchants were compelled to send clerks checks or wire exchanges to begin getting vehicles that were supposedly being held in a port in Florida. Merchants denied and demanded to pay upon conveyance which in the end prompted East European Imports shutting its entryways.
In September 2003 the Romanian state sold 68.7% of ARO to Cross Lander, an organization possessed by John Perez, for $180,000 US. The agreement stipulated that the organization needed to contribute $2 million US, which purportedly never occurred. Rather, all of ARO’s generation tooling and gear were sold off; this was an activity which damaged the privatization contract. The Romanian state sued John Perez in 2006 for adulterating reports with a specific end goal to secure the organization.
The ARO 244 model was wanted to enter the US market as the Cross Lander 244x, yet financing ran out in February 2006. The organization Cross Lander USA Inc let go all its workers, sold its base camp and shut down in February 2006.
ARO went into bankruptcy 11 in June 2006.
The organization Amrom Automotive 2006 was arranging with ARO loan bosses to buy the organization from liquidation, and plans to continue creation of the ARO line of vehicles under the ARO name at the Câmpulung industrial facility.
